Electronics Recycling

Today, the average consumer who purchases a new laptop computer is likely to upgrade within only three years. And all those cell phones? They’re discarded after only 24 months, on average. The DEQ reports that old computer monitors alone constitute 33 percent of the total e-waste stream in Oregon landfills. When you toss them out, they don’t biodegrade. And some electronics elements can leach into the environment.

Although your older electronics devices may have out-lived your needs, remember they may still have a useful life. Some items can be refurbished and reused, and a vibrant secondary market exists for models three years or newer.

Why Bring Them to Garten?
Since 1970, Garten Services has served people with disabilities throughout the Central Willamette Valley. We are proud to be part of a world-wide movement toward corporate responsibility and greater sustainability in all we do. Our Electronics Recycling Program is a perfect example of sustainability in practice.

Ecological Sustainability: Our E-Recycling Program guarantees none of your surrendered electronics will end up in landfills — anywhere in the world.

Social Equity: When you bring us your e-recycling, you partner with us to provide jobs for people with disabilities here in your community.

Economic Vitality: When people with disabilities work, they pay taxes — just like you — so the economic benefits touch the whole community.

Your Security is Assured
Garten E-Recycling certifies hard-drive erasure or destruction. We use U.S. Department of Defense information processes to eliminate the risk of personal information remaining on your system.
